What are backlinks?
Backlinks are links on other peoples pages that link back to your site.

SEO is all about geting your page better rank in the search engines. The most important and newest method to do this is to build links and to backlink.

Search engines like google used to use keywords, description of the page, key word density(this means the number of times a specific keyword apears in a page) to rank pages. Dont get me rong now ... they still do this, but they've added some new methods to calculating page rank, like backlinks, and this is what we are going to talk about.
Backlinks are a great way to increas your sites rank, because for example google feels that if you have alot of other sites linking back to your site, then you must be realy popular and thus your sites rank must go up. This is how it works.

Here are a few way to get your web page links on other sites:

1. Post on blogs and forums.
2. Add a signature to your forum post with your website.
3. Submit your website url to web directories
4. Compile and submit free articles.

NOTE: When you post on blogs and forums be shore you post relevant content, AND DONT SPAM, if you spam or post non relevant content you wil just get yor posts deleted and/or your account banned, and your link wil be gone and you don't want that especially if it is a big forum/blog with lots of traffic.
